Hello from Philly

Postby willc » Sun Aug 28, 2011 9:03 am

I have wanted to get a Mosrite for the longest time, ever since I got hooked on the Ventures years ago. Just recently I managed to score a Hallmark Custom 60 in orange metal flake. I have not been able to put this guitar down since I got it. A fantastic player and such beautiful sounds.

The guy I bought the guitar from referred me to the forum here and from what I can tell so far it seems like a great place. I hope I can learn a bit here about these great guitars.

Take care, Will

Welcome! You realize of course, once you have bought your first Mosrite, you are hooked, and sometimes many more join the stable...we call it GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome). Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum Will. I have a H60C as well and my first MIJ Mosrite guitar is on it's way. I can't wait to compare it to my Hallmark which I have already started to bond with, big time.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I do know all about GAS, at the moment I am in the 40+ range of guitars, maybe 30 amps, and god knows how many pedals.

Most of my stuff is USA made stuff from the 60's like Harmony, Kay, and Dano. If I am not mistaken it seems the vintage Mosrite stuff seems to have gotten a little cheaper in the past year or so. I always keeping my eyes peeled for that deal of a lifetime.

Even now it is hard to believe how nice my Hallmark is for the money. I am digging it more and more each day. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the weight. I am used to much lighter guitars, other than that this thing is the coolest.

Nice to see you here!

You have a rare color H60C. It would have been from our first run. It should have white pickups and rings on it which is also rare on these models. Yes the weight on the first run was up there. Dan Moses from the Dynotones who has a bout 6 Hallmarks now swears by his first run heavy H60C. He said it is his favorite Hallmark of all of them so far. He did just order another one in Silver Sparkle now, so we will see how it stands up.

Bob
