Greetz to all,
I am basically a wind player, but I dabble a bit in guitar. I just picked up the strangest thing. It is a Mosrite mini guitar--about 65 cm long. Looks like a real Mosrite, but since I live in Tokyo and the tuners say "Made in Japan" it is obviously a Japanese Mosrite. I have found almost no info on the web, except I did find one thread here from last year talking about this instrument. The others mentioned were black. Mine is dark turquoise--that color I always associate with old Mosrites--with a blond peghead. I must say that the neck looks like a Mosrite neck and has that classic low action. The pickups seem pretty good too, but I don't really have enough experience to know. I can post pix if anyone here is interested.
If anybody has any info about this instrument I would love to know, as well as any guess of its value. I paid $100 for it and it is almost mint, so I am sure that I didn't do bad on it in any case. It's a great little thing, indeed.
Strange little Japanese Mosrite mini guitar...any info?

Any idea who made these, and when?

All I found from my old auction listing was Mosrite Japan and they specifically mentioned that they didn't know anything else about 'em. Nice blue ya got there though. Wanna trade?

I was wondering at first what I was going to do with it, but the more I play it the more I like it. For the moment I'll hang onto it, but if I ever decide to clean out my stash I'll let you know.
Really odd, though. If Mosrite Japan was not part of the deal, I wonder who went to all the trouble to make a mini, and copy all the trademark stuff. Decently made, too, right? One of the funniest things is this tiny little guitar with those big old hunking Mosrite pickups, and the slant end of the neck, like a real Mosrite. I may take it to a guitar shop here in Japan sometime and try to get some info.

Probably made by Kurokumo in the '90s. They were sold as both finished guitars and DIY kits. An awful lot of them still floating around Japan, not so common abroad.

I bought my Aria Ventures bass from the same seller. Highly recommended.
