lefty

Postby oigun » Thu Mar 25, 2010 2:14 pm

Today I started with a new project a lefty mosrite clone for forum member Olav.
I hope you guys can give us some pointers because I'm new to mosrites and never seen the real deal. Olav's girl has a nice aria "moclocne" So that and especially the Ed Elliot thread will help a lot.
So I put some alder together

And routed the template.

Looks like you're off to a great start. Here's a link to some guitars I have built. There are photo's of the process, just click each link. Hope this helps.

I bet the safeT planer took a long time. But like Danny said you are off to a good start. Kevin

Hi oigun,

Looks good to me! If I can help in any way, drop me a line.
"Alder" that's a good chose for body wood, I like the way it works,
finishes and sounds.

Cheers,

Ed Elliott

Binding; YES or NO

Postby Olav » Fri Mar 26, 2010 4:36 am

Since this is the thread about 'my' guitar, I thought I'd ask here.
I like this look;

and this;

So I think binding on this build will be groovy.
I also like this though;

the clean look that a body with no binding has...

I wonder what it will be. To bind or not to....

darn @#$%
I have to find a better way of doing this. Invest in a downcuttinspiralbit or a decent pinrouterperhaps.

I've used a piece that came out of the waist so its hardly visible anymore.
