Four arms, three pickups, two necks!

Postby MWaldorf » Mon Jan 18, 2010 6:45 pm

On my way back from the Guitar Geek Festival, I stopped in to visit with Danny Ellison, our forum host. We had a great time jamming on some blues, with Danny playing his custom builds and me playing the 72 Mosrite bass he restored. Then Danny brought out the Joe Maphis double neck he built, which, to no great surprise, I immediately fell for. We agreed that the guitar shouldn't be relegated to hanging on a wall, and I volunteered to open up the world of Jewish Surf Music to the double neck sound. When I got home, I found there will be an additional use as my daughter wants to start a duo. I want to thank Danny for entrusting me with this amazing work of art!

Hey, Mel--

GREAT pictures!

Could you kindly ask that Magic Eight-Ball behind you on the couch if there is a Mosrite bass in my future?

Thanks in advance--

Holy smokes, Mel, that is a beautiful picture. You're going to have to get an 8x10 copy framed. Memories like that will last a lifetime.

Actually it is more than entrusted, Mel is the new owner. He just hasn't told his wife yet. ;)

Oh, nooooooooooooooo. Please Mr. Eight-Ball!!!

I have been trying to talk Mr. Bob Shade into coming out with a bass like that candy-apple blue one you made.

That is just terrific.

Well I'm a lucky guy in a number of ways, among which is that my wife is tolerant of my guitar habit. Besides, there are far less family friendly ways to spend money, so I guess she's lucky too, right? ;)

Jim, I'll have to ask the 8-ball again tomorrow. Hopefully it will change its mind.
