Info on custom ELECTRIC Ukulele made by Semie Mosley

Postby cnc_rockhound » Thu Dec 03, 2009 4:13 pm

We have in our possesion an Electric Ukulele that was custom made, around 1961, for my girlfriend's father by Semie Mosley. Her father owned a recording studio in Bakersfield, CA. Buck Ownens was among the artists who recorded at her father's studio and Buck introduced her father to Semie Mosley. Her father asked Semie to custom make this Electric Ukulele, and as far as we know it is the only one in existence. It looks like a minature electric guitar but with four strings. I have tired to upload a pic to share with you all but have had difficulties. Any info on uploading avatar would be helpful.

We would be grateful to hear any information on such an incredible piece. We have tried many avenues but keep coming to a dead end. Vintage Guitar Magazine has asked me send them a professional picture as they may do a story on it.
Aside from them I haven't had any luck with getting any information. Again we appreciate you taking the time to read this and I would like to share a picture with anyone thats interested. It is trully one of a kind.

We look forward to hearing from you all.

That just sounds so cool. Pic's would be a must for something like that. Semie's brother Andy is a member here and maybe knows something about it. Oh ya Welcome.

cnc_rockhound,

First of all, WELCOME to the Mosrite Family. That must be a one of a kind little beast ;) . Semie did not even
bother to rub out the Guild 'inserts' on each knob like he did with the early "Ventures Model" guitars............
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.
.........Owner of 9 Mosrites...
.....proud owner and documented:
1963 "the Ventures" Model s/n #0038
