what I noticed is that the neck fitted fairly loose inside the neck cavity. therefore, it's possible that the sound is getting killed here. so I superglued in some mahogany wood veneer inside the cavity to get a tighter fit. once the glue dried, and did some light sanding...

I attached the neck again, and it fitted a heck of a lot tighter, so I colored in the veneer with a black sharpie, and put my baby back together.

ahh okay. yeah dennis, swiftcraft made them in different colors, although i don't know why. I've seen these model most commonly in black and green. however i've seen them once in blue and once in yellow! I'm guessing semie picked the colors at random, the switches are just on/off switches, so the color would make a difference, as far as I can tell.

there's nothing sweeter then a mosrite with a fresh setup and a fresh pair of strings. But I added one more thing. a ventures decal :D
for those that get mad at me, cuz it's not a real ventures, relax, I know. and the decal is above the finish, so I can scrape it off with a fingernail if I want, so it's obvious that it isn't original to the guitar. but it sure does looks cool!

WOE!!! You are saying some stuff I NEVER KNEW EXISTED, but maybe some other members might know about this!!
But I would venture to say (pun intended), I DID NOT know about the different colors available from SWITCHCRAFT.
And again, as far as 'Uncle Semie' picking the colors at random, I would probably say that he probably went with
whatever he could get his hands on at the time....... ;)

I tried the guitar out tonight, and I did notice an improvement in sustain. however it's still not as close as my les paul. the mosrite does sustain more in the middle and neck pickup positions then the bridge position, but I still plan to have Ed rewrap the pickups for me, and maybe that'll help out a lot.

cheers all.

the one in yellow I saw on ebay probably 6 months ago, I might have a pic saved. I tried to buy one of these guitars from a guy in California, and he said the pickups were a super hot version custom made. he claimed that the pickups were wired at 36k! with the buttons used as coil taps.
since tim made repos of these pickups, I asked him about it, and he told me the guy was lying cuz the pickups doesn't have enough room for that much coil wrapping. it's funny what some people will try to pull...

Aaron,

Wow - thanks for sharing all the photos! So, on your guitar, the switchcraft button switches do what? Are they coil taps or vol/tone bypass?

I wonder if raising the action might increase sustain?

ur welcome waldorf. yes, raising the action and refretting the guitar with larger frets both would give me more sustain, however there's some things I'm just not willing to do. this guitar plays like butter, and the super low action, is one of the major reasons I feel in love with mosrites in the first place.
I wanted to recoil the pickups anyway, just cuz I've always thought they were a little too low in output, I'm just hoping it can give me more sustain in the process.
if it doesn't I can live with it, there's always pedals I can use.
when I get a little extra time on my hands, I'll set up my other Mosrites and post it on here for you guys. hope you all have enjoyed the pics! :D
