Here’s a picture of the back of the headstock with one of the two signatures on the guitar (the other is on the neck plate). There’s also a document included showing the guitar was used as a means to settle a debt Semite owed to someone named Bill.

Very cool.
I remember years ago seeing photos taken in the Jonas Ridge shop, and seeing a number of Mark 1s in Carolina Blue hanging on a rack...

Thank you for posting that last picture! Enjoy the guitar, I think that color is one of the best looking in combination with white pickups.

I may have inadvertently deleted the photo of the back of the headstock in my attempt to edit the spelling of Semie. Autocorrect took over and gave me Semite accidentally yesterday morning (I didn’t have enough coffee yet to notice much of anything when i was posting my reply).
Yes, Carolina Blue looks fantastic with the white pickguard. It really jumped out when i saw it at the shop. I’m a huge fan of ink blue too.
I received a reply from Hallmark yesterday and we’ll be in touch again next week. Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

OK, I'm going to have to ask.
Where did you find it, and how much did you pay for it.

It made it’s way to San Antonio Texas via a collector who sold or traded it to a guitar shop that I frequent on occasion (he had a decent collection of Mosrites that he’s been selling off). I was eyeing a combo but decided to hold out for a solid body instead. Totally by coincidence i came in the store as the owner of the shop was making the final negotiation for taking it in. I contacted him about it as soon as i got home and 24 hours later it was mine.
I don’t have an exact price since we did a partial trade, but it was very a reasonable deal. I didn’t feel I overpaid and the owner felt he could still make a profit from the instrument i traded him.

- I'd also leave it hardtail. I have been playing a hardtail M88 on stage recently, love the sand cast hardtail bridges he was using around this time. I would probably trade you a v88 with a trem, I have a few... Message me if at all interested (steveandlainey@sbcglobal(dot)net) I think this is a Venture reissue he did around the same time maybe? Really neat guitar btw!

The gangster looks so frightening, with his luger in his hand
When he gets home to his children, he's a family man
But when it comes to the nitty-gritty, he can shove in his knife
Yes he really looks quite religious, he's been an outlaw all his life
