NBD -Eastwood

Postby Blue Stooge » Thu Sep 04, 2014 10:22 am

Beginning of the year, Eastwood came out with a limited edition of this bass, right-handed, in metallic red. Limited to 12 basses.
I contacted Mike in early April and asked about getting a lefty. He said if I paid for it up front he'd make me a lefty. I said ok but one more thing, I want metallic blue.

Cool, but it's strung like a righty.

So do you play it lefty with the upside down strings, or do you play a lefty right handed?

Haha, cool man.

What about the nut? How does that work out? Did the builder know you were gonna string it up reversed?

Not the Eastwood. Some manufacturers will set it up my way, some don't.
I've got 30+ years swapping/cutting nuts.

Hey Blue Stooge...
I checked out your basses on your photobucket site...nice! I have a RH Rickenbacker 4005 bass also ('67), and a 4001 V63 (as I recall) and a circa '68 Hofner "Beatle Bass" though I can't really play much on them. Heck, it's all I can do to play guitar! I noticed the moniker "Eggheads" on the drum kit...what all do you guys play?

That's great, I've got a few Rics, I'd probably have more but lefties are hard to come by. One is a rare 4001CS, it was limited to 1000 basses, of which only 3 were lefty.
The Eggmen do Sixties tunes, mostly British Invasion stuff. We're in our 23rd year. We've won Best Cover Band at The Austin Music Awards 11 years.
Here's a little clip from one of our orchestra shows.

The Eastwood site now lists a side jack bass-lefty in metallic blue.
