Mike Love fires last original Beach Boys

Postby jfine » Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:45 pm

I just found out about this. Apparently Mike Love owns the rights to the Beach Boys name, and he's fired David Marks, Al Jardine, and Brian Wilson. While I don't know any details, it seems pretty crazy. It would be like the Beatles firing John Lennon and Paul McCartney, or the Who firing Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey. Or the Stones firing Mick and Keith...So i guess the Beach Boys are now Mike Love and whoever else he can get...

...or like shooting yourself in the foot. Just crazy.
To me the image of "The Beach Boys" will always include David Marks, Al Jardine and Brian Wilson, regardless.

Saw Brian solo 4 times, great shows. Saw the original Beach Boys on this past tour, absolutely amazing show. Mike Love is now completely nuts.

Hmmm...must be catching, seems to me this happened in another big-name band from our past, and recently too.

I went to see the Beach Boys several times when they played at Pine Nob in Mi. which was only 20 min. from my house. I must say I was never diapointed with any of their performances they were always top shelf entertainment. Old school is best.

Mike Loves Beach Boys already had booked venues for smaller areas after the 50th reunion concert tour was supposed to end. They played some more venues in larger arenas and the smaller areas couldn't hold all the band of the 50th reunion tour band, so Mike told them they had to go.
It sucks--- but Brian Wilson got back at him and hired Al Jardine and David Marks to join Brians band.
Brian IS the Beach Boys....no matter what !!! And I'm a Beach Boys fan.
