Interesting! There have been a bunch of Fenders done like that but I don't recall any Mosrites. I've seen them with clear necks as well.

Yeah it is a pretty sweet guitar. I think Mike Marks has one of those in his collection.

I have a Japanese Mosrite catalogue with one of these pictured on the cover so my guess would be they're a Japanese model.

That's a Japanese Re-Issue, mine is a 1969 from New Jersey. The DEAD GIV-A-WAY on the one
pictured here, is how light the so-called Formica Pickguard is. The Original was a lot darker:
