I just quickly photoshopped a color scheme onto an original Mosrite. I've not seen this color before, and wondered what everyone's opinion would be if I did mine like it.
It's Pewter, not Silver. It's not a great photo it's done rather fast

Dan, First I have to say that your project is looking great. Nice choice with the resin body, Great work adding the zero fret and the headstock extension. Why on earth didn't I reply earlier?

On the subject of a pewter burst finish I recall pictures of both a Ventures I and Mark V with similar finishes. I'm not sure if they were refinished or were one offs but they looked good. Here's a link to a pic of the Mark V.

Austin;
I don't know why but i'm sold on the Pewter Burst. I just love the way it looks.
Guitar center had a LP and a Strat done and both looked really nice.

For some reason I recall a guitar a while ago with a similar paint scheme. Does anyone remember it? El Twang, maybe?

I found it. It was the Silver Surfer I was thinking of. For some reason I remembered it being darker.

I didn't get a chance to work on the selector knob last night as I was visiting with my GREAT-Grandson visiting from Tennessee.
Here are two photos of the Chrome plated brass knob. The other photo is my Great-Grandson.

I dip plated with the Caswell Copy Chrome kit.
It works very good and they have all types of metal including Gold and Silver plate.
The kit i got was around $30.00, but I could easily plate several hundred of them before I needed to order new solution which is about $15.00 for the chrome. The system works best on smaller parts like these and knobs, Model parts etc.
A friend of mine plates larger items like antique Brass phones etc, and he does it on his kitchen table, and puts the stuff away when he's finished. Technology allows home plating now where before it was out of reach because I feel the trick is, it's so easy, no one would pay to have it done. Well maybe for bumpers etc, but for small parts ANYONE can get great results at home for under $50.00. It's so easy, "A caveman could do it".

That's pretty cool. Do you have any idea how well it wears under use?
