Was that one a V3 (no pickguard, simplified carve and no tone control) or a Ventures model with an extra pickup? I love my three pickup Mosrites!

Did the Cars ever record anything with the Mosrites?

Hey, All--

I'll never forget when I was playing lead guitar for The Cars. I had several wonderful guitars, all provided by the record company, at no cost to me. Of course, I was having such fun that I never spent much time playing them, but . . .

Oh, heck. Wait a minute . . . that isn't true; that was just a dream I had after seeing that lovely girl in the "You Might Think" video on MTV.

Dang. I think I'll go back to bed and dream some more!!!

All kidding aside, I do love those songs and the sound The Cars had. GREAT music.

Strat-o-rama wrote:The current USA models are Fillmore parts, assembled (to a degree) in Bakersfield, CA by Dana Moseley. Dana also hand winds the pick-ups and completes the final set-up. I don't think Ed Roman has any of these.
All of us here look forward to the "Rebirth" project, and I also very much enjoy the Tiki Gods, where the sounds of the Mosrite are a natural fit.

Thank you, and I agree-there's no finer guitar for Tiki Gods music! I'm on the road but will post pictures when I get home.

It was a 3 pickup Ventures style but I think w/o a Vibramute. I think I sold it to a guy that worked at Dave's guitars in LaCrosse who was a lefty.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I remember talking to Loretta Mosely several years back and she told me yours was one of the few left handed Mosrites ever made. Does your guitar have Semies signature on the back of the headstock?

And yes, we are all looking forward to a Cars reunion.

Rocco

Semie made me 2 with his signature on the back-a blue one and a red one. They were built by Semie.

i'll look. I sold them over 20 years ago. All I have now is a pearl white Fillmore and a candy apple red USA/Fillmore. The two are virtually identical except for the color.

Hey Elliot,
Was that somewhere around 1984 or 85 when Semie built those guitars for you?
I remember calling Semie, he told me he was doing Some work for you, way back in the day.
Where did the blue one findly end up?

The procedures have slightly changed since those instructions were written back in '08. But, for the most part they should still help get you you where you can post photos. I think now the copyin', cuttin' and pastin' is simpler. Trial and error should be the best lesson.

If someone wants to write up new instructions I'll replace the old one.
