I think this forum is great. Sometimes I feel that there are many people here that have far more knowledge to contribute than what I do…mainly based on experience with the guitars. I’ve owned Mosrites and only own one now, but it’s hard for me to contribute information if it’s already been posted by another member.
As for vintage Mosrite, it reminds me of listening to the “oldies” station…awesome music, but I’ve heard/seen a lot of it before. By no means does that mean I know all there is to know about Mosrites, but there’s not much “freshness” about Mosrites when it comes to new information.
I’ve really gravitated towards the member posts showing pictures of them building their own…Absolutely phenomenal and inspiring. Even though the guitars aren’t Mosrite, it seems like our little corner of the world may appreciate their efforts even more due to our unique interest in brilliantly crafted guitars.
I really don’t post all that much. I log in and view new posts…that’s pretty much the extent of my involvement (especially in the winter; my busy season). This forum is a great resourse for anything Mosrite and related. I’m not sure if the initial intention was to be Mosrite only, but I think the more information the better.
Hope this helps!
Scott

Dubtrub, this is the authority on Mosrite on the web, also the best forum on the web. All your hard work really pays off, intelligent and respectful conversation on the the greatest guitar ever conceived! plus many other great topics. I would hate to see it go.

As one of the most copied designs in guitardom I think the forum tent has to be pretty big. I'm glad that E.F. and Hallmark get exposure on this forum, especially considering their individual relationships with Mosrite.

I only have one Mosrite it has been main guitar for 20+years I'm saving for another, when I'm ready I'm giving Artie a call.

I hope the forum will continue. {I was going to market my brand of "Mosrite Morning" coffee}

I was thinking about hiring a cheap little vacant building I found where the forum can remain rock solid...Image

On a serious note, let us not forget the tremendous commitment, dedication and huge amount of time required to run the Mosrite Forum; so if Danny needs a rest, I can quite understand his dillema.

I am very glad to see this thread from Danny. Although I was one of the early members who joined this forum, I have to admit that I do not participate much recently. I agree with Danny with some of his concerns.

I am one of those die-hard believers who are fascinated with the history and stories of Mosrite guitars. Like most the Asian Mosrite followers (especially in Japan), our interest and enthusiasm about this legendary guitar started with the instrumental group; The Ventures. Although The Ventures' endorsement for Mosrites had only last for a few years. To most of the Ventures fans, we still put the Mosrite and Ventures names together.

I agree that vintage Mosrites are expensive and are overpriced. Do vintage Mosrites sound better than newer clones? Not necessary and some are not. As player guitars, do they have the same or better values as the newer clones? They are not in most of the cases. Was I frustrated sometimes when I found some of my vintage pieces (not necessary Mosrites) do not sound as nice as my modern guitars? Yes! it happened often and I almost had the urge to put them on sales. But I was stopped when I read some of the threads in this forum or articles in books / magazine written by other Mosrites collectors. I realize that these guitars have precious histories and memories in them. I am collecting not only a unique guitar but also a piece of the history. This forum has kept the Mosrite tradition and enthusiasm alive. We owe that to Danny and many people who participate here.

I don't post much in this forum but quite active in Taiwanese guitar forum promoting surf music especially those by The Ventures and the Shadows in 60's. I also wrote about the guitars used by the American Surf bands such as Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, Stratocaster, Telecaster and Mosrite of course. We even used Youtube to run easy surf guitar lessons which last for a few months. It seems to spark a lot interest there. (Mel, I have told them about your Jewish Surf Band and encourage the kids in Taiwan to play Taiwanese folk songs in surf style...)

Why didn't I participate here more? Language skill is still a burden. It takes a lot more time to express myself in English. Also for some reasons, I feel that I don't get much responses nor comments from other members. Maybe I did not express myself good enough to spark interest or just don't know how to keep a good conversation going. Nevertheless, I do visit this forum often and enjoy the reading.

Just want to take this opportunity to say THANKS to Danny.

Danny,
When I first saw this thread, I started to respond right away like I usually do, but then I said to myself 'Naw, I think I'm going to just sit back and see how the other members respond.' And it wasn't easy not responding! It also seems everyone's response had the same denominator-- it would be a shame to see this Forum become 'History' so soon.

You had posted:
The current trend is, this site is fast becoming more of a Hallmark forum than a Mosrite forum, which is not the intent of this website. When someone mentions buying a Mosrite, it automatically gets reference to a Hallmark because it's cheaper. I'm sure Hallmark is is basking in all the free advertisement this forum has provided as several forum members have purchased Hallmark guitars as a result of this site.
Like some members had mentioned, yes there seems to be a lot of excitement with Hallmarks new models out, and Ed Elliott firing up his website, but that comes from members creating that excitement at the moment.....
Also I have seen other threads 'flare up' for a while (i.e. E-bay & Craigslist) and then the thread would settle down......
I'm not sure that Semie would be pleased and I know that Dana and Artie aren't. As stated in the introduction to this website, the purpose of this forum is to keep Semie's legacy alive and promote any and everything Mosrite.

I agree but on the flip side of that coin, Artie and Dana have had the golden opportunity to give us the latest updates of new products (guitars, accessories, etc), and they have, but not near the level that Bob Shade has taken it to, and Ed Elliott and a few others are starting to follow in his footsteps. Is it fair? Well, everyone has the opportunity to do so if they wish. Is it fair to the Forum? I honestly don't know......I would think that only time will tell. And I DON'T mean to start a War with this either, I'm only bringing up what I am viewing. With what everyone else has already mentioned in their posts, I agree. Is the 'interest' fading? I highly doubt it. When I have the time, I'm ALWAYS snoopin for anything new about vintage Mo's, because just when you think you found out everything there is to know about Mo's, somebody comes along and posts some new info that they had just dug up from God knows where  and that's just the way it usually works.

But bottom line Danny, We all do thank you for making this Forum become a reality and I as well as everyone else here need
to salute you for having to be Security Officer (deleting robotic spam crawlers), Janitor (maintenance of this site), etc, and
that's only a few of the things you've had to do for this Forum..........

Thank you Danny ;) .

Mosrite Forever!
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

A tip of the hat to Danny Ellison.

I think the forum had been up maybe a year or less when I first met Danny at the 2009 Deke Geek Fest. Danny told me about his Mosrite forum. What a good idea ... a Mosrite forum. I joined right after. Like most of the respondents I stop by this site 2, 3, or more times a day to see what might be new. I have to admit and it is no secret that my main interest is in the pre 60's non production guitars of Semie. And maybe oddly, I've never owned a Mosrite or clone (except my own :D ). None the less I still enjoy perusing the various threads on all aspects of Semie's work. I was pleased to show my work to an interested forum audience and thank Danny for the opportunity.

One of the other forums I scan maybe a couple of times a week is the Gretsch Pages. You'll find a very wide variety of subject headings, kinda like here and it looks like they have many members that never or rarely post to an actual Gretsch topic. So, what's the point? It's possible to loose interest in what started as a fun venture and then begins to take different turns that seem to hijack your original concept. It's obvious that everyone likes to hangout here but perhaps Danny could use some assistance . . . not monetary as he as stated but help moderating the forum. Most forums that I have visited over the years with good attendance will have moderators for the various subject headings. Maybe there are some here that might like to offer their time to help maintain the site? Of course this is Danny's call. I would support what ever direction he needs to take.

Thanks for the forum
Long Live The MOSRITE Forum
- Terry

Unlike the Democrats in Congress, I hear what the people are saying.

All I can say is, WOW! I appreciate all the support and the offers of assistance.

Baring any unforeseen major disasters and to set everyone's mind at ease, the forum will remain operational.

If by chance there is some down time with the forum in the future, don't get upset as there may be some changes made. However, any changes will be to enhance the forum.
