Base your bid on what a new one would cost - @ $1050 shipped - and you get a brand new axe.

Re: hallmark or good copy
It also depends on condition and finish but this one seems to be superb. If I did not already own a Hallmark 60 Custom I would be very temted to bid ...but not more than $600 for this one because the original crocodile HSC (worth about $150) is NOT included in the deal.doombuggy wrote:what would be a fair price for a used Hallmark?

Re: hallmark or good copy
Hey doombuggy, you should call Artie at Front Porch Music see what he can do for you.
If you owed a Mosrite in the past you won't be able to tell the difference with the new Fillmore/Mosrites. Hallmark is a great way to go also, more so than Eastwood or Dillon.
I have never been one to buy into the notion Mosrites new or old are unplayable or somehow not up to giging with.
Sure, the Fillmore/Mosrites are more money than Hallmark but Artie has been known to give deals to forum members. Good luck.......... {p.s. great band}

Re: hallmark or good copy
Ive looks at the fillmore and theyre pretty pricey...
the guy wants more than 600 for the Hallmark.
What are the pups like as far as output and what are the ops for a higher output pup that looks the same?
I wasnt really that impressed with the original Mosrite output it was about like a Rickenbacker.

Both the Dana made Fillmores and the Hallmarks have very hot pick ups and look superb. The Dana Mosrites are pricey and have trouble staying in tune when you use the vibrato. The new Hallmarks are excellent quality(stay in tune) and value. If I were you I would get a new Hallmark. They are the best bang for the buck!

I use one live.
The pick ups have very high output and the guitar itself has a very distinct sound. In fact you can drive the amp into distortion with these pickups but the volume knob is very responsive and you do not get that treble roll off when turning down. Keep in mind that these are single coils and not humbuckers so you will get noise from them as with any single coil pick up. When I am using high gain pedals I have a ISP Decimator in the beginning of my chain to gate the noise. A Electro Harmonix Hum Debugger is another option.
If you are having reservations about ordering a guitar sight unseen, I can assure Bob Shade is good guy and will work with you if there is a problem. I bit the bullet and ordered mine back on October 7th, and the guitar was at my place of work on the 9th. The guitar was set up with GHS 10's with a quality TKL case and the guitar played perfectly. It did not need a set up, even after I changed gauges from 10-46 to 10-52.
If you have any special requests, Bob can probably do it for an upcharge.
