I was looking over Loretta's suit against Fillmore and it got me wondering about the number of MIJ clones/ replicas out there. From what I've read, from 1963 to 1967 there were approximately 5300 officially labeled Mark I Venture logo guitars, 700 Mark II Venture logo guitars and 800 Mark V Venture logo guitars for a grand total of 6800 official Venture logo 6 string guitars built by Mosrite in less than 5 years. Now how many MIJ mosrite replicas do you suppose have been made in the last 43 years since Mosrite closed in Bakersfield in 1967? I figure there are more replicas out there than original 63-67 Venture guitars. Any opinions?

Wow.......this is very interesting.....I'll be eagerly awaiting the outcome of this lawsuit.....
Kinda makes the Hallmark guitars even more sought-after, doesn't it?
Thanks for posting the lawsuit, BigWave.........

From what I've seen and read, that could be the understatement of the month. The Japanese have been Mosrite-crazy since the Ventures first played there in the 60's. Any number of builders have been cranking out Mosrites and MWB's (Mosrire wanna-bees) for what, almost 50 years now. Several of the guys on this forum can probably qoute more accurate figures than I could ever come up with. But suffice it to say that Semie merely planted a seed that grew and grew and continues to grow.

From the lawsuit discussion posted elsewhere on the forum, you may find this of interest.
Here's the original discussion: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1506

THIS IS AN UP-DATE ON THE LAWSUIT.
A LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED BUT NO ONE HAS BEEN SERVED. UNTIL ALL PARTIES HAVE BEEN SERVED THERE IS NO LAWSUIT. I AM NOT SURE WHAT SHE IS WAITING ON BUT, ATTORNEYS ARE IN PLACE TO TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION. I HAVE PERSONALLY CHECKED THE U.S. PATENT OFFICE AND NORIYUKI YUSA IS THE TRUE OWNER OF MOSRITE. AS FOR ME, MY NAME IS NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE IN THE LAWSUIT. I AM JUST GREATFUL TO BE ABLE TO LEGALLY RE-CREATE MY FATHERS CREATIONS. GOD BLESS. MOSRITE FOREVER, DANA MOSELEY

I think I remember reading somewhere that they are being made in Japan, assembled in the USA & Dana is winding the pickups herself for the high end Mosrites being sold at Front Porch. I might have a detail or two wrong.
In order of purchase:
1) Mosrite Ranger
2) V88
3) Stereo 350
4) Hallmark II in Johnny Blue
5) Danelectro '66
6) Celebrity III
7) Hallmark Gospel
8) Serenade
9) Eastwood 300

For what it's worth, that sounds like what I have been told as well.
