Hi gang. Here is my little update on my Celebrity project. I have been put a ton of effort into this and its is paying off with some pretty cool information. I have catalogued about 85 Celebrity "specimens" so far. Interestingly, I've identifed five serial number sequences that are not listed on TYM's site as well as some inconsistencies. For example his list shows 2DL**** as being a bass and I've collected several that are either "Archtop" or "Celebrity", still one in the same as for looks.
I located a couple that may be prototypes but I'm not sure about that. They have serial numbers that begin with "SPK", "SPM", and "ST". Also, I found one that I'm thinking of buying that is serial number "0018". There is no prefix. I don't know if that means it was the 18th Celebrity ever produced. If it does mean that I would want to buy that guitar for sure.
I've collected photographs on most of these 85 guitars so I'm still studying them. I do have a photo of a Celebrity with the full on Vibramute tremelo if ya'll want to see that. It happens to be on the model with serial numberr "0018". It also has tortoise shell pickguard and control plate which really looks nice.
Danny, I'm not sure yet how to present the information that I find because it is going to be a lot. I have purchased the domain name "www.mosritecelebrity.com" and plan on making a website for this model. So, if it's easier to do it that way we can always provide a link. Let me know which way you prefer.
thanks Sarah!
