Re: Way off topic -- Bouzouki

There's a store in Northern California (Mendocino, I think) called Lark In The Morning that specializes in ethnic instruments from all over the world. They offer a selection of bouzoukis ranging from around $3-400 to $1200 or so. They have a website--I don't know the web address offhand, but a Google search ought to turn them up.
In the early-mid-'70's, I was in an R&B band playing in a Greek-owned club, and one of the owner's relatives brought his bouzouki in one night. He had a pickup in it--I guess most of the Greek players use them that way--so I had a chance to try it through my guitar amp. The tuning threw me--he had it tuned in fifths, like a big mandolin--but, wow, what a cool sound! Anybody remember the Danelectro Bellzouki that was actually the first production electric 12-string on the market?
