Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the forum so here is my question that has been bugging me.
I have a Super Excellent Mosrite which is quite beautiful. I'm thinking of getting another Mosrite but I'm unfamiliar with the Fillmore line. Are they worth the money? Is the quality that much superior to the Kurokumo line. I can get another Super Excellent SB with Ventures logo for $1200-$1400, (depending on condition) or get a 65 reissue Fillmore reissue with ventures logo [used], with "Mosrite of California" on headstock for $2300. Anyone with experience with both companies and your feedback would be appreciated
PS. I thought Fillmores didn't use "Mosrite of California"
thanks!!

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I can not offer an opinion on either of them.

Re: Kurokumo vs Fillmore
My experience is that it really depends on the model: the Kurokumo Excellent is the cheapest Mosrite that I know of, decent instruments but not really great - whereas the better and more expensive models are very, very good.
Same goes with Fillmore: for example their Ranger is good, I'd say easily better than Excellent but not as good as the best Kurokumo models. And there can be different individuals, even if the model name is the same.
The obvious conclusion is that you should try out the guitars that you are considering to buy, and find out that way what you like the best, and find the best value for your money.

This concludes my report from outer space. Now, back to studio!

hi 52Reissue.......welcome to the forum.....
Before you make your purchase, you should really check out the Hallmark Custom 60 guitar.....it is a clone of the Mosrite, and looks and plays excellently! And it's less expensive than the guitars you've mentioned.......I've owned an original 1964 Mosrite Ventures model, and recently acquired a Hallmark Custom 60......and I like the Hallmark more....just a suggestion......

Another vote for the Hallmark Custom 60. In my opinion it is the best value out there.

Holy mackeral, jump on that even if you are still gonna buy a Mosrite. I would if I was close. I love my Hallmark. I own 6 Mosrites & I might play my Sheena more than any other single guitar.

Re: Kurokumo vs Fillmore
THe posting ended..that was fast.
The Fillmore I was looking at has "Mosrite of Classics" on the headstock with "MARK I model" on the top..my mistake.
What is nice about the Super Custom Kurokumo is that they use Nitro laquer and not Poly
