Celebrate with me my acquisition of a Dillion DMB7504 4-string electric bass. It is heavy with Mosrite influence, coupled with Wilson Brothers (The Ventures) styling (similar to Wilson Bros VCMB2001) and probably manufactured by Aria as they have a similar looking model (Aria Diamond Bass) and manufacture the Wilson Brothers line.

I got this bass for a bargain price of $190 including a gig bag plus also inexpensive UPS s&h from California ($22!). It is in new condition with the pickguard still protected by the peel-off plastic cover. The frets do not look like the strings have touched them. The original price tag says $724.95! Kevin of JSD's Guitar Shack (Canada Dillion) said in an email "It appears to be a 2002 model, nice find for $190.00!"

I have owned 2 Mosrites, a 1965 (?) single pup The Ventures model, and a Joe Maphis model. I can no longer afford a real Mosrite so this beautiful instrument satisfies my needs and, as a beginner - again - I look forward to learning all over.

I include a photo of Bob Bogle holding the Wilson Bros. VCMB2001 to show the similarities of the pickguard, pup combo, bridge, binding, etc.

Nice - seems to ave a better carve than the Eastwoods I have seen. Very nice acquisition - and I really like the sunburst!

Nice looking guitar Bob. I do believe that the Dillion is a better looking copy of a Mosrite than the Wilson Bros. The Hallmark would be the best from what I have seen. Have fun with it.

Congratulations, it looks gorgeous. I'm sure you will enjoy it, my Aria Ventures Bass arrived just a week ago and it has a similar configuration and pick guard.The body shape is like the Wilson Brothers Aria. I am pleasantly surprised at the sweet sounds it can produce; my favourite setting is when I give both volume pots equal juice and the tone pot turned nearly all the way up - such a nice clearly defined spicy sound -hard to describe. I'll bet yours will be the same!

We are so fortunate to own such beauties! The color of yours is gorgeous. While there are a lot of attractive instruments, nothing beats the Mosrite or semi-Mosrite shape regardless of brand. What does it for me is usually the headstock. I cannot stand the Fender-type headstock. When I see musicians playing (mostly the bassists, of course) I look to see what the bassist is playing and once I see the ol' familiar Fender headstock I lose interest although if the music is good I'll continue listening especially if the bassist is finger-picking instead of a plectrum or as I invented a term for them: "plectrumatics".

A few weeks ago I sold my Eastwood Hi-Flyer because I just wasn't getting into re-learning to play. I bought it because I had gotten a UNIVOX HI-FLIER and, unfortunately, it looked great in the seller's webpage but you couldn't see what eventually turned out to be problems. My main impetus was the Mosrite-influence and a Mosrite shape is my favorite guitar/bass shape.

I got the Eastwood because it was really nice looking and it had a neck-thru so bolts were out. Before that I had another Eastwood Hi-Flyer but a long-scale that dipped.

The carve is really pronounced in the photos but, thankfully, it turned out to be smoother in real life. I love the sunburst also but I secretly wish it had the same finish as the one Bob Bogle is holding.
