I don't normally use a vibrato but on a few occcasions I've fooled around with it and I can say that on every one of the 5 Excellents I've owned; using the vibrato causes the guitar to go way out of tune. I had one of my guitars in my local shop for a bit of repair work and a few of the staff guys told me that the Mosrite vibrato on the Excellent is basically useless and in the words of one guy " It doesn't work." as the guitar went out of tune every time they tried it.
I pointed out the fact that it still looks cool though, to which they just rolled their eyes and shook their heads.
I still think I'm right.

Weird. The Excellent I had never had tuning issues and I use the vibrato alot, both for lowering and raising pitch, and it always came back to tune.
