Has anybody here swapped the stock pick ups for other Mosrite type pick ups and if you have, why? How was the sound after the swap? Did you do any custom wiring (in phase, out of phase, parallel, in series, caffeinated, decaffeinated?)
I have no intention of doing this in the near future since I am pretty satisfied but just wondering.

Re: Swapping out the pickups on a Hallmark 60's Custom.
I have used both Hallmark and Elliott Mosrite pickups (which are the same as the original) in my custom build guitars. They are so close in every detail, it is a waste of money to change them. However, I do prefer Elliott pickups because the construction is identical to the original Mosrite. Sound wise they are too close to worry about. When I first starting building my custom build guitars I was noticing a big difference in sound. turned out it was the mis-wiring them out of phase. JMTCW.

Before swapping out pickups, consider changes to the volume/tone circuit - there's some subtle to more dramatic changes you can make. I recently posted about some changes I made:

Wait untill you can get hold of a vintage Mosrite, so that you can enjoy the TOTAL MOSRITE experience and not just the pick-ups.
Good luck !!!
