I have a 1975(4?) Model 350 stereo that my brother gave me as my first guitar in 1978. He had stuck a lot of crap all over the thing... stickers and such. In my attempt many years ago to remove the cr*p he put on there, I completely destroyed the finish on the thing. It was a beautiful natural finish originally. I know refinishing detracts from the value of the instrument but for the last three decades or so, it has had no finish at all. I would love to restore it to the original natural finish. I have all the original pickups and hardware. So is the natural finish just regular lacquer or is it some special lacquer? I have the equipment to spray it. I just need to know what it is.

If the guitar doesn't have a finish, it's fine to refinish. To be clear, I'm not sure what paint was originally used. However, you might be able to get an answer from Bob Shade at Hallmark Guitars: http://hallmarkguitars.com/contact/contact.shtml

Also, most of the 350 model seem to have been in the Natural finish. Those that were, were Mahogany Body / Mahogany Neck. Those that had a different finish are supposed to have been Basswood Body / Maple Neck like most Mosrites.

I'm curious which 350 model you have, though, since I oversee the serial numbers list for these. The number's stamped into the fretboard near the neck pickup, if it was stamped. It should be an upside down V, then several digits. And does it have one or two output jacks? Most have two, but there are some that are singular. (Edit:) Now I see you posted in the serial numbers thread that it's A0030. Thanks.
