Re: Weight Of Mosrite Guitars
Moving right along, Semie seemed to favor basswood for the bodies of his guitars, probably since it was easy to work. I remember years ago when we sold BC Rich, we'd get in a batch of the same models, but some were heavier than others. I'd had more than one customer point that out to me. When I got my '66 Ventures, my wife remarked that it was noticeably heavier than her '67. All wood varies in density even within the same species, depending on what part of the tree it came from. I guess Semie wasn't particular about the weight of the wood, especially during the peak years of production at Mosrite, when he needed all the wood he could get. Anyway, that's my guess.

My '65 Mark I ventures is pretty heavy, and my Hallmark Classic 60 is even heavier.
But it's worth it for the great tone.
