Hi,
I'm a new member here and I'm trying to find some info on this Mosrite Celebrity bass that I just bought in London. The serial number is LL-0004 and it is on the stickers inside and stamped into the neck. All the parts seem to be original but the scratchplate/pickguard and bridge cover plate are missing. It sounds great though and is in pretty good condition. Any info about the model and year would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum. If you can post some pictures that would be helpful to answer questions. I can tell you a little about it. LL0004 would be a 1968 Celebrity-I bass and I believe that is the long scale from Mosrite as opposed to the short scale basses that were the same scale length as the guitars. if you would take up the four screws that hold down the control plate, flip it over and look for the pot codes on the potentiometers I can date it to a particular time of year, more or less. It will be a 7 digit number beginning with 134 or 137. For example, 1346815 is a pot code.

Thanks, it is indeed a long scale neck and the pot code is 1346801. I'm having a little trouble attaching pictures to this reply but I'll keep trying, or try a private message.

The pot cod tells us the potentiometers are from Centralabs and were made the first week of 1968. It's safe to say your bass was likely made the first quarter of 1968. I can post photos for you if you will email them to me at: sarah@MosriteCelebrity.com

Great stuff, thanks! As you can see, the pickguard and bridge cover are missing so would you, or anyone else, know if I can get original vintage replacement parts anywhere?

The bridge cover and pickguard will occasionally appear on eBay. When I had my shop I could make reproduction pickguards, however, I am in an apartment at this time and I don't know when I will be able to set up my shop in the future.

An alternative you can try is to contact Bob Shade from Hallmark Guitars. He is a member here, or you can contact him via his website. He has many original parts and may be able to help you.

Thanks, I'll contact Bob. though I quite like it as it is now, just thinking more in terms of value, although that may not make much difference.
