That is one sweet Combo, Dave, I'd love to own one like it. I'm not an expert but original finish is definitely highly desirable and indeed a huge factor in it's value (upwards, that is). A Sunburst finish is the most popular one and perhaps CAR and Blue may follow immediately after. I'm not sure about the pick-ups' output readings but I would guess pretty much the same as the ones on the solidbody Ventures I models, which incidentally are most popular and on peoples' want lists. The Como's are a rarer breed and could demand higher prices, I would think. Keep an eye on eBay

That's a heckuva gift! Looks to be in nice shape too, and the color's great. I'd hang on to it if I were you...
As I recall, they were around $500 new--the Ventures Model/Mark I was just a hair under $400--an expensive guitar at that time, as a Les Paul goldtop (which was freshly reissued in '68) was $400, and a Strat was under $300. What it's worth now I don't know.

My kinda guitar. I would guess 1200 would be a great price. The combo is the orphan guitar of the Mosrite brand but truly a fine guitar in tone, feel, and style. Its one thing to have a Mosrite but the nerdgasm that guitar geeks have when you whip out a Combo is a joy to behold. Enjoy
