Necks and Bodies

Now that I've read a bit about the nuances of Semie Mosley's builds, I can understand why the neck of my Ventures Model is dated in June of 1966 and the body is dated November 1966. I'm wondering why a neck would sit around for almost 5 months before being mated to a body? I know the history of this guitar so it's not like someone did a neck swap sometime during it's life. I've posted a few more pictures on my Flickr account so you all can have a look-see.

Small shops often do not work as an "assembly-line" (read my shop! ) I often have parts sitting around waiting for the right partner to make a fit...

ive have parts, bodies, necks sit for years so its no big surprise to me. semie may have gotten in orders to produce 80 dobros, celebrities, etc to get out pronto, so production can stop on one line to start on another. you do what you gotta do to pay the bills. in my shop customer guitars always come before my own builds so I tend to work slow lol.

Glad to hear from another member who has the same descrepancy in parts. Bought mine in our local music store back in 1974.
Sunburst Mark 1 serial # 3850, has October 1965 stamped on the neck...and June 1966 in the neck pocket. Truss rod adjustment @ the body end.....7 pickguard screws instead of 8 like some Ive seen.
I guess its safe to say its a 66
