I can't seem to find a definitive answer to this one and maybe some of you Mosrite Mavens could clue me in.
After the Ventures disappeared from the headstock, and shortly later Mosrite was temporarily history, Semie made Model (or Mark) 1 guitars again, but this time the headstocks bore either: 1. Mosrite of California (USA) BY MOSELEY, or 2. Mosrite of California (USA) BY SEMIE MOSELEY. Do the two different headstock markings indicate any particular time frames? Also I've noted some of these guitars have natural finish headstocks, some are bursted, as is the neck. Is this random or indicate particular production runs?
Thanks Gang!

Re: Early 70's Mark 1 headstocks
i believe the first 70's read "by moseley" then later it was switched to "by semie moseley". all three of my 70's mosrites were made in 72,73 or 74 and they all read by semie moseley. from what I can tell is the earliest 70's models also often had a burst headstock, but as most mosrite lovers know. there's never a set rule on anyhting mosrite. hope this helps some

Cheers,
Aaron

Thanks Aaron,
Since you have three guitars from this time frame, do you notice much variance among the neck profiles and nut widths?

Re: Early 70's Mark 1 headstocks
i have two V2 models and a 350 stereo model. the 350 and my fireburst v2 i believe to be older 72, and the other v2 is a 73 or 74. the 350 (mahagany neck) and the eariler v2 neck profile is dead on the same. very thin. the other v2 neck profile is slighly more rounded, and to me is a little more comfortable. the profile is a little wider then the 60's neck but the nut width on all my 70's are the same. I remember reading somewhere, probably on the forum here, that semie said neck profiles changed when he hired a new guy to work for him, lol.
Cheers,
Aaron
