I mentioned this in a thread under another section and thought it might be more useful here. I was looking at the Patent number on my Celebrity's tremelo and wondered when the patent was issued. So, I went to the USPTO website and downloaded the patent. Semie A. Mosely applied for the patent on May 11, 1964 and it was granted on March 1, 1966. I downloaded the seven pages as images and if anyone would like to have the images just let me know and I'll email them to you.

wow, Sarah......I wonder why it took almost 2 yrs for him to get the patent? Is that timeframe normal for such patents?

I'm sure it's much faster today with online applications, etc. If there are any issues at all they send it back so I'm not suprised it took that long with the manual system they had in the 1960's.

I think I read somewhere that Leo Fender never bothered to get his Strat body design patented probably because of all the hassle and time involved...He only patented the headstock contour, not thinking that so many sharks out there were going to copy his Strat (body); the most recent 'steal' being done by Gibson (for that butt-ugly Hendrix Strat)
