My letter from CJ Ramone

Postby GTSP » Mon Sep 14, 2009 5:00 pm

I had an old poster from a Ramones show from back in 1989 or 1990. I sent two copies to CJ Ramone along w/ a quick note about Mosrites, saying thanks for the music, etc. He was cool enough to send one of them back signed, along w/ the attached note & pick. He was very cool to do this, so I figured I share w/ the class. Check out the note he sent:

Very nice...more than just an autograph. One day it might do well on "Flog It!", eBay or any one of the other auction houses ;)

Nope, Worth more to me than the 20 or 30 bucks I'd get for it.

I'm no autograph hound. I now have 3 autographs

1) 1993 National Championship football signed by Bobby Bowden.
2) A baseball purchased at Camden Yards I had Cal Ripken sign
3) This poster

I saw The Ramones in '78, '81, '85, and '95. I was lucky enough to see all 3 drummers, (not counting Clem) and both Dee Dee and CJ. The '85 show was great, it was at a very small club. I still have Johnny's pick from the '81 show. At the '78 show, Tommy had just cut off his hair and was getting ready to leave, it was like one of the last shows he did. For those who don't know it, Tommy is now playing mandolin in a bluegrass duo called Uncle Monk.

This is weird, in '78 I was 18, and it was my first concert. In '95, I took my 18 year old (at the time) daughter, and it was HER first concert. Of course, I got the standard "Look at that older guy with that young chick, how disgusting" look......I still get it when we go somewhere, then they turn their heads real quick and go on about their business when they hear her call me Dad.

Very cool story. I saw the Ramones, I think, 12 times. It might be 13. I saw all 3 drummers. They weren't my 1st concert, but there were my 3rd, behind Missing Persons & U2 (War tour w/ the Alarm opening up).

These guys have been my favorite band since 5th grade. They really are the best band imo
