When Semie went with the humbucking pickups he also changed his necks somewhat and used bigger frets. I am curious about a few things.
Did all the guitars with humbuckers have jumbo frets?
Were some of these jumbo frets filed down by Semie to make them flatter/lower?
Some of these necks were different in thickness, I've had two Bluesbenders, the earlier ser. no. has a thinner neck and the frets are jumbo but filed down somewhat. The one I used to have with a later ser. no. had a thicker neck with higher frets. 101 Volts asked for a pic so here is the thinner one I have now.

I own 2 70's mark vii models (ventures one style mosrite with humbuckers) and also a 70's 350 stereo model. the ventures style mosrites have speed frets, just the same as a regular ventures one, the stereo 350 has jumbo frets. the jumbo frets are filed down similar to a speed fret, so the fret is low yet wide. they feel very close to the frets on a 70's les paul, if you have ever played one.

the necks are all about the same, wider then the 60's necks but tapers a lot more on the back of the neck. the profile on my redburst mark vii is the thinnest out of the three, and the 350 model and the regular sunburst mark vii's necks are practically identical.

the closest thing I can think of that comes close to this profile is some metal type guitars like a jackson or ibanez. also the width of the neck at the zero fret is much wider then the 60's version. they are roughly the same width as a les paul at the nut. this is a very different feel then the eariler mosrites, and for thoses of you that like 60's mosrites but think the neck width is a little too short, you might want to look for a 70's mosrite.
at the higher frets the neck width seems to me to be roughly the same as a 60's mosrite. my guess is the width of the neck at the 22 fret didnt change much through out the years, although i don't know for sure.
