If you want, if you can put all your documentation into some chronological form and pm it to me as you progress with your project including photo's, I'll save it then combine them into a single reference topic as I did with Ed Elliott's guitar building project once you have completed the project. Plus it can be updated as you develop new information. Example: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1581

Danny, thanks for posting that link! It was incredible. I've never seen it before. I've never seen step by step how a guitar is made either. That was so awesome! The next time I pass through Oklahoma, I'm making a pit-stop! Incidently, I have the same Sears router that Eddy has. Pretty cool!

Hi gang. Here is my little update on my Celebrity project. I have been put a ton of effort into this and its is paying off with some pretty cool information. I have catalogued about 85 Celebrity "specimens" so far. Interestingly, I've identifed five serial number sequences that are not listed on TYM's site as well as some inconsistencies. For example his list shows 2DL**** as being a bass and I've collected several that are either "Archtop" or "Celebrity", still one in the same as for looks.

I located a couple that may be prototypes but I'm not sure about that. They have serial numbers that begin with "SPK", "SPM", and "ST". Also, I found one that I'm thinking of buying that is serial number "0018". There is no prefix. I don't know if that means it was the 18th Celebrity ever produced. If it does mean that I would want to buy that guitar for sure.

I've collected photographs on most of these 85 guitars so I'm still studying them. I do have a photo of a Celebrity with the full on Vibramute tremelo if ya'll want to see that. It happens to be on the model with serial numberr "0018". It also has tortoise shell pickguard and control plate which really looks nice.

Danny, I'm not sure yet how to present the information that I find because it is going to be a lot. I have purchased the domain name "www.mosritecelebrity.com" and plan on making a website for this model. So, if it's easier to do it that way we can always provide a link. Let me know which way you prefer.

thanks Sarah!

Oh jeez! I forgot that you guys are totally guitar porn starved. So, of course you want to see a picture of it! Here is the Celebrity with the Vibramute tremelo. I've only seen a couple of them like this. I have also seen one that had a Vibramute that was cut down but I haven't seen it lately and, dummy me, I neglected to grab the picture while I had the chance.

Great photo of a lovely guitar! That tortoiseshell just works so well against the sunburst.

Does that Celebrity have a label inside the bass f-hole? Mine does not, but I haven't looked inside the guitar to see if it might have fallen off and still be floating around in there. I can see no traces of glue where it might have been adhered in the past.

Can't wait to see your documentation, Sarah! Thanks for doing that; I know it is a lot of work.

Take care--

I hate to nitpick, but that SF Guitar Center Celebrity has a Moseley (albeit a full one), not a Vibramute.

Oops! My bad. I thought that's what they were called. So, this one is a Moseley. Most of the time you see tremelos that are much smaller, as if cut down from this one. Are they also called Moseley's? Or something else? I appreciate any corrections ya'll can point out because I do want to be as accurate as possible.

Moseleys have two screws on the rear end and say "Moseley," Vibramutes have three screws and say "Vibramute." Simple.
