Things are looking good! We are machining up our string guides now. Hang in there!

By the way, what colors does anyone think they would like??

Bass regards, Bob

Hi Bob, Some of the original Mosrite basses had a metal cover over the bridge. Many players removed them and disposed of them as they were not really popular from what I understand. They were kind of angled in shape. Are bridge covers going to an option?

Always loved Bob Bogle's single pickup metallic blue bass on the cover of 'WDR '64' and 'Knock Me Out'...I don't recall ever seeing another Mosrite quite that color, possibly a one off? It certainly seems a bit lighter and closer to royal blue then ink blue offered by Mosrite on production instruments.

First choice is definitely 'Bogle Blue' (consider it Bob, I think it would be a popular color), second would be either Sunburst or CA Red, single pickup.

Color aside, I really want to get my hands on one. Any idea on a street price Bob? Will both the set neck and bolt neck have body binding and matching color headstocks?

I got bored and did some Google-ing and stumbled upon a '63 similar in color to Bob Bogle's. I guess this color was offered for a short time...it's definitely NOT the dark-ish, ink blue that I've seen on numerous mid-late 60's Mosrites.

'Bogle Blue' would be a hot color dontcha think? ;)

Vibramute, thanks for posting those pics; that's quite striking. Didn't Rickenbacker make basses with a similar blue?

A friend of mine had one and it was almost that blue, if I recall.

Hey, thanks for the input guys. I think in the single neck pickup version Sunburst and the Blue is a given. In the two pickup version, I am feeling Pearl or Cream White and Fire Sparkle.

Thoughts between Cream and Pearl White with tortoise shell guard?

Thanks again, Bob

Jim,

Rickenbacker had a color called Azureglo in the late 60's through the early 80's that is kind of similar to the color of the '63. Typically, Azureglo is going to be a little darker then 'Bogle Blue'; it's also non metallic and has just a slight purple hue in person. The color varied a lot over the years though. I had a late 60's Azureglo 340 that was basically blue/black. See the pic below, both instruments are only 4 years apart and sport factory Azureglo finishes  :o :

Currently, Rickenbacker offers Midnight Blue that is metallic, but the color is darker and more purple-ish then the typical Azureglo and is considerably off from Bob's '63.

Bob,

So glad to hear you're gonna give blue a spin....I WANT! Hopefully you'll be able to get close to Bogle's elusive color. What would say the color is, candy apple blue perhaps?

I would call it a Sky Blue. It is not a metallic. I have seen other Mosrites in this color too, but not often. It was a custom color. I love this color too. Easy on the eyes!
