Maxtib wites:
Save up and buy a vintage Mosrite (would take a little while longer) - possibly a Jonas Ridge one? What's the reputation on these?
I've mentioned this story before, but my Wife and I had the good fortune of meeting Semie and his Wife Loretta back in '88 up in Jonas Ridge when he was starting to make his comeback. I had Special Ordered a Mosrite Ventures Model look alike, but that's where it stopped. It looks like my real '63 without "the Ventures" Logo on it. And there's too much to describe and I'm gonna get off topic with this, so let me just say, in a nutshell, if ANYONE has the option or good fortune of buying a Mosrite that was built in Jonas Ridge, OR EVEN from Booneville AK,........DO IT.....
These are the VERY LAST Mosrites made by the Man Himself, and they will only appreciate in Value as time goes on, so if you can afford it, or if your within the budget you want to be in, but it's a little more, spring for it.....You won't be sorry. He might of not been a good businessman, and some of us didn't care for those thin frets (on the '60s models), BUT He sure knew how to build a Beautiful Looking Guitar.
