Projects in progress...

Postby maxkat » Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:04 am

Dear friends in Mosrite,

here's what I'll try to finish the next weeks after some of the parts've been lying around for years ;-) And still: there are parts I could need...

Image

Top: 1965 Mosrite Ventures II slab body clone
No problems here except for time and color decision: white or sunburst...? (that's why there's no pickguard, yet)
Original parts:
- near mint August 1965 Ventures II neck
- near mint slab body tremolo
- bridge with screws
Looking for:
- two pickups, please ;-)

Middle: 1989 Mosrite Johnny Ramone Custom (shark fin) clone
It seems nobody has cloned this thing before – hard to believe, as in my opinion this is the prettiest and sexies of all Mosrites... The major problem with cloning Johnny's guitar is that there're no detailled photos around. So, if someone wants to help: as far as I know it's still displayed at the NYC Guitar Center ;-)
Original parts:
- string guide, bridge with screws
Looking for:
- 1989/90 pickup without polepieces, black
- Semie Moseley aluminium backplate (guess it has one of those, never seen the back)

Bottom: 1990 Mosrite "Ramones" / Gospel Victory III partsrite
Same shape (in my opinion) as the custom Ramone guitar without the routing, so I've bought this body as a template for the white 1989 – nearly completed, it only needs the right color, thinking about translucent blond... or is it better to leave it natural?
Original parts:
- body
- neck (C93, thanks, Curtis)
- pickup (70ies)
- string guide, bridge with screws
Looking for:
- Semie Moseley aluminium backplate

If you have some parts I could need, please tell me...

Cheers,
Max

Good luck with finding all of your needed parts, Max. On the first one, I'll vote for White paint. :)

Thanks, Sarah,
I'm glad those parts are not needed, only desired...
1:0 for white, OK.

Ever since I saw a black Hallmark with tortoise pick guard, I've been having dreams in the night...accompanied with severe GAS

@ Dan:
The string guides are from eBay around 10 years ago; sometimes they still pop up there, or you could ask for them in this forum or try to get them from Japanese reissue builders. Perhaps Andy Moseley still has them, or Bob Shade...

@ Mel:
I will do that... And I have a question about the bridge position that I posted here in a new topic: http://www.mosriteforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4382

I've decided to finish the slab body in sunburst, as it seem to be more like a chellenge than white and the thirst for a white Ventures II went dry after all those Japanese clones...
Here's my very first unpatient attempt and it's not so hard to do a sunburst completely in nitro with a good airgun...
