out of tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yesterday I played my Ranger with my band...(I had to fix tremolo before) so I tried it for the first time , all the time "out of tone",just gettin' the pitch...playin' 2 songs and..every string was higher!
so my bass player(may be he doesn't like Ranger Mosrite so much) looked at me ,and said"leave that bad guitar at home".............I couldn't reply,it was out of tune so easy.
My strings are Ernie Ball 0.10.
I can't understand what's wrong( but.. yes I know ..the tremolo assembly....),or the spring has more power than the strings...boh?
I knew The Ventures told about that issue in the 60's with their Mosrites ,but lookin&listening to "in Japan" it doesn't seem to me mr.Nokie was "out"
a little bit hungry Bruno    .

I've had similiar problems. Get several different gauge springs and experiment until you get one that works with your string gauge. Try Zamminc on ebay and also Hallmark Guitars.

Bruno, do you have strings going out of tune only with your Ranger? I have no Ranger so couldn’t tell you but as you must know there could be any number of reasons for strings getting out of tune, on ANY guitar, especially when they’re NEW!

I’ve never had problems using Ernie Ball 0.10’s. Have you checked the string guide at the nut if the strings are free of friction? I have a Hallmark and have to re-tune perhaps a little more than my Fenders –maybe because the thinner necks of Mosrites and their types are more ‘sensitive’ to climate changes?

Good luck :)

Hi Veenture and friends, I've some others guitars which almost don't need any adjustement in 1 hour playing ,but this one is terrible!! out of tune in the middle of "slaughter on.."and what can you do when you must go up in tune ??? the -g- string all the way up on the tuner !!!not a good thing,so there's some troubles on the way... oh my old dear 65 fenders.........mmmmmmmmmmmmm
I've tried different string gauge to 0.11 but didn't like that feeling so much,so I would prefer to stay with 0.10.
the stock spring is made for...?

I use from ever Ernie Ball strings and never had a problem.
this little "baby" is gettin' me craze!!!!!
HELP! Bruno :( :?

Make sure the string guide is secured to the neck. If they come unglued the shift up & down creating havoc on the tuning.

How are the tuners? Do they rattle or have backlash?

The string guide can also bind the strings. I had a Zamminc string guide on my parts-rite and the G string would go out of tune whenever I used the tremolo. I got a vintage string guide from Andy Moseley on ebay and the problem went away.

Does the problem occur when you use the vibro system only? If so try with a little graphite in the nut/each string guide.

yes,the "worst" string is the -g- string-horrible all tune up ! I can't see-understand- what's wrong in the nut.so I imagine that that spring is supposed to hold the stock 0.10 tension string gauge,or am I wrong?

may be graphite can help you if the tune is down, but when it's up??
I'll have a change to 0.11 ( I' wanna go 0.10 if I can ),but if anything good happens,I'll be too bad&nervous

thanx 4 any help you'll give to me
