Design Question

Maybe it’s explained and I haven’t discovered it yet, but does anyone know why Semie opted to angle the neck pickup as he did on the Mark I? It seems to me as the angle chosen brightens the bass and darkens the treble. I had a Zenon where the angle was flipped which made more sense to me. I can’t help but wonder if it was to produce a response similar to blending the neck and mid pups on a strat, a unique response or purely aesthetic. I’m not pretending to be an expert, just naturally curious.
