Any familiar with CD labeling software ar kits? I can burn CDs but would like them to have a professional looking label. Magic markers just don't look right.

I have a Gateway computer and the disc tray has Labelflash on the door but for the life of me I can not find it on my computer and I don't have any documentation to show instructions or how to find it on my computer. Yeah, I know. Dumb.

If you have a Frys Electronics in your area they have software for that. I think you also need a color printer and the special adhesive paper that goes on the CD. The kits come with a device that helps center it properly on the disk. I don't think they are even very expensive these days.

We have an Epson Claria Artisan 50 printer at the office and we use it just for putting face labels on CDs and DVDs. You buy the disks that have a matte-white finish and run them through this printer using a special tray that comes with it; no paper label needed. It looks like a professionally printed CD or DVD when it prints.

I think the printer only cost $119 or so. It also prints up to 8" x 10" photos on photo paper.

My designers seem to love it. I've only used it once each for CDs and for color prints, but it did a super job.

The glue-on labels are not the ideal solution...friend of mine put one in his car CD player...it's still there...won't come out!

The surface of the CD (and CD-R) which carries all your digital info (i.e. music) is also the same surface you write- / print- on or apply labels to, so you always need to take special care and avoid causing any damage to it

Paul is correct; we only allow Sharpies to be used to write on CDs or DVDs. I once had an assistant who insisted on using ball-point pens right up to the point where she was dismissed.
