As usual there wasn't much that really interested me but I like to look at cases that they keep under the table. Well the 1st one I look at has a 65 Ventures double pickup bass so The guy that owns it bought it back in 65 Schmitt music and they were the local dealers. I never new they handled Mosrites well back then I wasn't that old. So we talked and he wants to jam or maybe have me get together with his band. They are a part of the Intrumental /surf music groups that play around the Twin Cities sound like fun.He also said there are quite a few Mosrite still around in town not all have gone to Japan.

Guitar shows around metro Chicago tend to have between 1 and 4 Mosrites. Usually 1 is a bass. Most are beat to shid and prices for the 6 strings are in the $4k area.

Moral of the story; not the place to shop for a Mosrite if you come to Chicago for a guitar show. But Gibsons, Fenders, Gretsches...by the truckload. Some exotics and handmades, too.

I think ebay sort of ruined guitar shows. I remember back in the early 90's, before everyone got into ebay, you could really find some good deals at shows in SoCal. I used to frequent ones at Del Mar, Long Beach, Pasadena. Mosrites were downright reasonable, except for Ventures models. I remember buying a really nice Brass Rail Deluxe, with OHSC, at Pasadena for $400.00. Combos and Celebrities were common in the $500- 600.00 range. There was just not that many people that wanted them then. Once the dealers discovered ebay, that's where they stuck the Mosrites, and other weird stuff. Then the Mosrite geeks started coming out of the woodwork and bidding them up and up. I knew SoCal music stores that literally closed their doors and just started selling on ebay out of their garage. I think people have become disillusioned with "Feebay" these days, though. I sure have. Maybe, as a result, guitar shows will start having better stuff again.

Tim, personal feeling is eBay ruined a lot of things while simultaneously making everything available to everybody.

Wow tho; Mosrites in the 90s used to be 400 or so...wow.

I don't buy a lot of things on ebay, but I look often. It sort of became the "Blue Book" for everything.
