Has anybody ever found a review of any of the Mosrite clones in Guitar Player magazine. I was looking for a review of the Hallmark and found nothing.

I don't know of any Guitar Player reviews of the 60 Custom, but there are a few glowing reviews on Harmony Central that might be worth checking out (if you haven't already): http://reviews.harmony-central.com/revi ... ustom/10/1

I don't think you ever will see a review there. Hallmark sells direct, and are under the radar for publications like GP. Same for Japanese Mosrites, Fillmore or Kurokumo. Too small a niche to be afforded page space...and they don't advertise.

I have an Excellent 65 review from a British guitar magazine from a few years back. They did a good job but used words like 'quirky' to get their point across to the uninitiated. I remember seeing another review of the 65 in Total Guitar as well but I didn't buy that one for some reason. I thought at the time that the Mosrite revolution was about to take place...but it didn't.
Still ... more for us eh?
Bill.

It's an unfortunate reality of the publishing industry, but often times getting reviewed goes hand in hand with buying ad space.

I'm thinking that maybe we should start a letter-writing campaign to get them to notice the Mosrite\clone products. I know that when I took my Hallmark to Guitar Center it attracted all kinds of attention and a hundred questions about what is that, where I got it, how much, etc. But I also think that strat-o-rama probably hit the nail on the head. Still, there are probably a lot of Mosrite lovers (like myself) who don't know that the market is even there. I mean four months ago I had never heard of Hallmark, other than the greeting card bunch

And, the bigger the ad space...the better the review. ;) same as car mags.

Hey guys, just my opinion but the way Hallmark Guitars runs business is just fine...with an underground following growing stronger by the day 8-)

Similar thoughts about Front Porch Music and Dana's Mo' s.

I kind of like the fact that you have to search out this stuff. It made the arrival that much better. I also like that it's a niche market - it's one of the reasons I was drawn to Mosrite style guitars in the first place. As far as reviews, this board pushed me over the edge to give Bob a call. I saw good reviews from Mosrite fiends. While I am not qualified to comment on the accuracy of the neck shape or the sound of the pick ups vs the originals, I will tell you that Bob offers a quality stick that plays well. Keep in mind, I was looking for the style to my specs, not a replica. Still, it seems like the true Semie fans have said that they like these as well.

Also - take this with a grain of salt. I'm very happy with a new purchase and the customer service/experience. Then again, I haven't seen too many guys on here whose experience was any different than mine.
