A dumb luck story

Want to hear a dumb luck story? Last summer when I sold my '66 Mosrite sun burst Ventures Model to Desert Surfer, it was no more than four hours after he had left my house that I found another 1966 Mosrite for sale on eBay.

Now for the absolutely dumbest thing I ever did in my adult life. It was around 11:pm and my wife was fast asleep. I was cruising eBay when I spotted a 1966 Mosrite that was just listed in original condition with the sun burst finish appearing exactly as the one I had just sold except it had never been touched or tampered with.

The reason I sold the one I had is because I didn't care for the slender neck and speed frets. I didn't want to refret it and Desert Surfer was really wanting an original Mosrite. So, I figured what the heck, and sold DS my '66.

I debated on buying the one on eBay as it was not an auction but a 'Buy it Now' option and the price was excellent, but I just wasn't that big of a fan of Mosrite guitars and their skinny necks. I couldn't see spending money for something that I'd probably never get much use out of. However, the price was so irresistible, my heart started racing and my breathing got shallow as I went into the bedroom to see if the wife was by chance awake. She was sound asleep and I was reluctant to spend the money I had just received on another Mosrite that I didn't need. I did not want to spend a large sum of money without discussing it with her. Well, when I went back into the computer room I found that it didn't make any difference as someone had jumped on it and it was sold. It took about 7 minutes from the time it was listed until it was sold.

That guitar was in original untouched condition with only a 1/4" minor chip in the finish on the back. It was in it's original case that was also in pristine condition. That guitar was being sold by someone that had no knowledge of what they had. It had a buy it now price of $1475.00 plus shipping.

Do you know how many times I have kick myself in the a$$ for being so dumb as to hesitate with a deal like this before me. Needles to say I 'hawk' eBay regularly, but will never again in my lifetime find a deal like that. I relayed this story to my wife the next morning and was admonished that I should have bought it wheter I needed it or not for that price. I also told Vincent (DS) about it a couple of days later when he called. You can only imagine how I felt. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

That's why I put that direct link to eBay's Mosrite auctions in our links forum. I hit it about 50 times a day.

Danny, I think that's a great idea with the DIRECT LINK to Mosrite on E-Bay. And also
clicking on the Banner to see the Mosrite Photo Gallery. I wander how many on the Forum,
are even aware of this excellent feature.....??
p.s. You never know when you may come across another 'insane price guitar' Danny.......
