When I heard that Phil Spector was going to produce a Ramones album I thought it would be the best thing ever but I was very disappointed. Johnny's usually razor sharp guitar sound was dulled somewhat and I thought the whole production sounded thick and muddy.
You can't beat their first album I reckon.
What an eye opener.

Can't forget adios amigos that was a great album as well. Mondo Bizzaro was also great. I'm still pretty partial to too tuff to die.

Re: The Ramones?
leave home is it for me. best songs/production for sure. too tough to die is my favorite of the post "first four" albums. I've been playing in the ramones style for so long ( http://www.myspace.com/rydells ) that i forgot how to play normaly. All Down Strokes All The Time.

Yep once you get the feel for that style there's no turning back.
If anyone's interested check out my band's myspace page

We were one of Australia's first Punk bands and we're still bangin' away.

…Bill, the drive of your band is fantastic. The drummer knows his stuff too, wow! I notice a Dutch name too in the band (bass player). I'm a dutchy too man, ha. Hey, no Mosrites then yet eh?
I’m sure, putting down your type of music/sound may “sound” (heh heh) easy to do to some (new) listeners (probably non players) but in fact the opposite must be true. I listened a couple times to the tracks... good stuff...my compliments!
You’ll forgive me now of course for having listened to ROCK first and not the Ramones!…LOL
Cheers mate,
Paul

Re: The Ramones?
Yes Veenture my bass player's family is Dutch but he was born in Australia and though he's just turned 54 he still goes at the bass like he's 18—in fact if the expression 'Eternal Teenager ' applies to anyone it's him, and I hope he never changes.
I should explain the title of the song She'll Be Right. It's an Australian term which means 'there's nothing to worry about' or 'everything's fine'.
EG: She'll be right mate.
The other song ' Sharkies Tribute' is a song I wrote for my local football ( Rugby League ) team, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. I figured that none of the teams had a decent club song so I wrote this one for them. The club heirachy rejected it but all the fans I've played it to love it so I'm hoping for things to happen this season.
Those songs are a selection of stuff we've done from 1977 to 1998 and we're going to record some new stuff soon.
Thanks for your kind words.
Bill.

Re: The Ramones?
Hey Bill, thanks for your explanations on Aussie talk but I understood well already. At the moment I’m starting to feel like a teenager again even though I’m 64!
Perhaps coming closest to the Ramones for me thus far -prior to just hearing your ROCKS of course- must’ve been Republica’s “Ready To Go” –went out and bought the CD too! (couple a years back).
Check it out Ready to Go!…………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3BmxjhmN20
Can send you the mp3 by e-mail if you like…
Cheers and good luck with the club song
PS. I already gathered that you’re a rugger fan! Didn’t play myself but lived my youth in South Africa (yeah, the Springbok team!) in times that every blessed radio (no TV’s then) was blasting away covering a rugby match and of course, when walking outside, one could follow the match perfectly well from house to house, LOL
PS 2. I’ll be on holiday (in New Zealand!) for 5 weeks, starting from february 3rd. so I’ll be offline for a while, just so’s you know.
Keep well,
Paul
