Both the Type 4 and Type 9 tanks are the long ones. The 4 has two long springs (each divided in two) and the 9 has three long springs.
They both sound similar, but the additional spring in the 9 tank gives the reverb signal a more complex, fuller tone. Some people prefer the simple "Fender Reverb" type 4 sound, but some prefer the fuller sound of the type 9 tanks.
DIY budget Reverb... anyone tried this??
