Tradition Guitars and Trem King Tremolos

Postby 101Volts » Tue Mar 17, 2009 9:26 am

Eight days ago while browsing this forum I saw a video of someone playing a Mosrite reissue. I checked other videos he uploaded and came across a video demonstrating the use of a Trem King tremolo system. This video I linked to is not the same one however I thought this was a better example.

It impressed me so after some research I found some Tradition guitars make use of this Tremolo. Yesterday I played a Tradition with a Trem King and it was everything the video described - Strings don't go out of tune after use of the tremolo, Only the strings you strum vibrate after use of it and you can even use this in the opposite way. Instead of giving them relief you can actually pull on the strings, Making them go up in tune! As for the guitar, It was a Telecaster copy. It had a Mahogany body, A Single coil at the bridge and a humbucker at the neck. However it had an interesting feature - You could "split" the humbucker making it sound like a single coil! I'd say that it is everything you can expect out of a Telecaster solid body guitar. Personally, I didn't like the sound (Too fat for me, I prefer semi hollow teles) But for $619 (MSRP, The one in store was $400) I'd say it is a very good guitar for the price.

The Guitarist is AWESOME in the style he is playing.....We know there was no locking nut system,
BUT, he never did say whether there were locking tuners on his guitar or not.....
I can guaran-damn-tee you I will put that sucker out of tune with no problem at all, but then again,
That IS the problem  .
Judging only by my own experience (which ain't saying much), if a guitar has a Trem System with
no Locking Nut or Locking Tuners, and you like to use the TREM for dive bombing and such,
the guitar isn't going to be in tune for very long :|.
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.
