I like to go 4 on treble, 3 or 4 on mids and 7 on bass with single coil pups and 5 with humbuckers. I also use the normal channel most of the time. It just seams to be a bit smoother sounding.

Well believe it or not the Custom 15 has more bottom end, no surprise but it also has more on the high end if you want it than a 2X12 setup. Not quite as loud as the 2X12 but close so there is no problem there. The Twin has never been known as a quite amp. LOL

I have owned all but 1 of the Twin reverb amps and this is the best for what I play of all of them. The quad reverb was a very close second and is the only one I wish I still had. The only one I never owned and never played through is the Twin Reverb Super Six.

I like my 76 twin reverb with Jensen 12k better than the custom 15,but it sounds good with every guitar I have,my "old" twin is smoooth and sweeet....how I love it!!!the custom 15 has very different eq style than my 76 twin even in the tremolo and reverb, but good overall.
at now it's a backup at home ,and a neighborhood nightmare...........rock on!!

One other thing to keep in mind about the Custom 15, the speaker for some reason takes forever to break in. I played mine for at least 4 months before it broke in. Volume at about 5 with my Gretsch guitars. I remember thinking that night that it was sounding great. It can be a bit harsh until then. It is worth the wait.
