1964 Mosrite Ventures Model Guitar (ser # 1136), Good, original black finish (heavy weather-checking), VibraMute tailpiece, truss-rod adjusts at heel, normal wear, 8-screw pickguard, original smooth pickup-covers (no logos), original double-line Kluson tuners have plastic buttons (an anomaly, but original), original smooth knobs (were grungy, are now clean, but have a slightly different patina...kinda nickel vs chrome, but appear completely original), cover over neck bolts (small screws attach cover), Fender gig bag.
This guitar needs some tlc, but does play good with low action and without any fretbuzz:
- Pots have been changed
The pickups are not giving me a clear reading. Due to moisture damage and rust on screws, it is probable that the pickups have an open-circuit. The pickups produce sound/volume, but the sound is thinner than expected & something is not right. Also, the bridge pickup has more output than the neck pickup does.
The volume is affected/reduced when the tone control is dialed down
This guitar has not been cleaned
The original frets have been polished & the guitar frets-out fine without any misfrets
I have not removed the neck
Most metal parts have rust and/or oxidation
Notes:
- 250K pots are recent replacements (cap appears original)
some finish flaking due to water damage at lower butt-end of body (reveals white undercoat)
according to this Japanese website of Mosrite owners, ser # 0982 also has original plastic button Klusons <http://www.ne.jp/asahi/mochizuki/kiyoshi/kiyoshi/mosriteowner/ownerlist.html>
I do have a complete set of period-correct double-line metal-button Kluson Deluxe tuners available for $100 extra; these would be norm for this era Ventures Model
Case: no case...Fender Gig Bag.
I have more pics available on request.
